Japanese language

I am actually studying Japanese right now at Columbia University and so far, it's been really interesting learning a new language. The Japanese language is unique in the fact that particles are used to mark the object, place, time and subject. The writing system is also unique for it uses hiragana, katakana, kanji, romanji and arabic numerals. However, at least, for writing and reading you can look at the characters and slowly interpret it. When it comes to speaking, I have to write part of the sentence in my mind first so the words come out slowly and choppy. Nonetheless, I still want to learn Japanese so that I can converse with my Japanese friends in Japanese and to be able to watch anime and Japanese shows without looking at English subtitles.
